This month’s drink is an exceedingly simple after dinner cocktail.  It’s frothy, sweet, and has a nutty quality.  I’m not exactly sure what its origins are.  However, I’m sure many Black Swan variants were created this weekend for people’s Oscar parties. (more…)

Bartender Behr – Japanese Cocktail

If you look at the ingredients you’ll notice that there is nothing Japanese about this drink.  It was actually invented in 1862 in honor of the visiting delegation from Imperial Japan.  So you might say that this actually a Japanese inspired cocktail, but it still tastes great. (more…)

This month’s favourite, slash current obsession, is Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar (conveniently located inside Waterfront Station). After undergoing renovations, rebranding and an entirely different concept, the formerly stuffy “Transcontinental” restaurant, dominated by business men, was launched into a stylish lounge and dining room.  It now offers laid back hostesses and servers, and a large menu with a variety of fun appies and beers on tap. Bartender Behr – Old Chappie

This is the first cocktail since New Years; so I thought a hair-of-the-dog drink was in order.  Instead of the traditional Caesar, I decided it would be edifying to find a less common hangover remedy.

Pain killers & an Old Chappie will set you right.

 

Many years ago, the Carnival Bar, in Trinidad, held a contest to find the best hangover cure.  Bartenders from all over participated, but barman Faizool Ali went home with the prize.  His creation was the Old Chappie; a tasty and simple corpse reviver.

  • Client: “What browser?”
  • Me: “Well, you probably use Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer to access the internet.”
  • Client: “No, no, you’re mistaken. We go directly to internet.”

 

This is Why You’re Fat – Guacamole field; cheese dip and salsa end zones; Slim Jim goal posts; sour cream yard markers; Ruffles, tortilla chips, Cheetos and Doritos for fans; vienna sausages with cheese helmets for players; rice crispy treat stadium; hot dogs with bacon separating the fans from the field.
